Gifts of wine club memberships are a wonderful way to explore wineries both at home and far away. At the same time, you are building up your wine cellar and creating unique taste experiences for yourself, your friends and guests.
Most wineries share exclusive offerings with their members that may not be available at your local liquor store. You may also get early access to special releases. Wine clubs cater to any wine lover from the novice trying to learn to the expert. Each club will have various terms of engagement. Typically you agree to buy a certain number of bottles two or three times per year. There are also wine clubs that search out exceptional choices of wines from around the world. Some allow you to consign a shipment as a gift to another address.
Wine clubs make wonderful business or personal birthday and Christmas gifts. Of course, make sure you gift yourself too!
Here are three unique wine clubs to consider:
I discovered this out of the way winery on a holiday last year. Found high on the slopes of a volcano, they are famous for their pineapple wine. The Maui Blanc is my favorite offering. A semi dry white with fruity and floral notes, three types of pineapples are used to bring you a taste of
Hawaii. The Hula O Maui is a breezy sparkling wine, fruity with the just cut freshness of pineapple and a hint of lemon zest. Their Mele Rose Ranch wine is also highly recommended.
Monte Creek Ranch Winery
This BC winery opened a wonderful restaurant and tasting room last year. We had the pleasure of spending the afternoon tasting on a road trip this summer. We left with plenty of their Blueberry wine planning to make it last to Christmas. Truly the most unique wine I have ever tasted, we finished the trip with one lone bottle. Alas, they are sold out but I cannot wait for the next year to bring a new crop. They have a great selection of whites and reds too. We loved their 2013 Foch which is a 2015 Bronze All Canadian Wine Champion. Earthy, full of blackberry, currant, and cherry, this medium-bodied wine follows through with rich plum and leather notes.
This wine club saves you the trouble of traipsing around the world looking for unique wines, although that would be fun. The goal of this team is to get you drinking the best wines in the world. While helping you expand your wine palate, they are curating cutting edge wine related information to keep you in the know.
The Collective has brought a revolutionary wine tool to Canada. If you have some bottles of extraordinary vintage and you wonder how they are developing, now you can enjoy a taste without having to pull the cork and drink it all.
