Spring Is Coming To Your Closet

Spring is coming!  Whether it is the latest denim piece, sneakers or a super shirt in a new colour for spring; there are little touches that freshen things up and make your wardrobe feel new again. Here are some of my favorite trends for Spring Summer 2018:

spring-brocadeBrocade Coats

Brocade coats were everywhere on the runway. Also embroidered jackets. These can all be worn with cycle shorts and trainers. Or in real life for real people wear it over jeans with sneakers or heels for the evening. A pair of trousers with a pointed toe flat shoe says elegance.

Spring At Forty FiveWide Leg Trousers

Wide leg trousers have been a staple look for the last two seasons. A full-length pant always looks polished and blends nicely with a sweater or blouse. Don’t be afraid to experiment!

Again you can wear them casually with a sneaker or with a heel for an evening out. Always listen to yourself and dress according to your lifestyle.

Parachute Belts

You will love the new trend parachute belts.  You can wear it over your sweaters and knits or over plain t-shirt this spring.

Spring At Forty FiveRomanticism

A new kind of romanticism is happening this spring. Pretty ruffled dresses and trousers in lovely shades of blue and red, paired with ankle boots or trainers could be seen everywhere. Victorian blouses in combination with jeans high heeled sandals.

Spring At Forty FivePastels and Lavender

Pastels and specifically lavender are bigger than ever thanks to the designers new reinventions on the catwalk. Think Victoria Beckham, Tom Ford, Tibi & Michael Kors!

Statement Jewellery

This year on the runways we saw large Statement pieces. Chandelier earrings and long sculptural earrings stole the show.

Think chunky charm bracelets and heavy ornate necklaces.

Spring At Forty FiveAlways focus on one or two amazing pieces, like a necklace or a big cuff bracelet.

Take A Planned Approach To Shopping

As a stylist, I recommend women go shopping with a plan. Pick a few trends to incorporate into your current wardrobe and consider your lifestyle, shape and budget. Some people can afford designer brands, others prefer Topshop, Mango and Zaras.

What we wear is very personal and it always depends on the kind of lifestyle we lead.

Whether you are a mother with kids or a sixty year old running your own business, clothes have to work for you. Then you will have time to stop and smell the flowers!
