Many women will be seeking refuge from domestic violence over the holiday season. Statistics show incidents occur over the holiday nearly threefold and one in three women will experience physical violence during their life.

Not having your own safe surroundings or the expectation that you will wake up Christmas morning to a joyful event is simply a heartbreaking reality. Many women do not have the resources to escape violence without the support of others. Often children are involved.

Shelters also provide short-term solutions for housing in cities where rents are prohibitive. Many support women with drug addiction, mental health challenges, or women in the sex trade.
